Mattie Lou Lannom Patterson, age 80 of Smyrna, TN, died Sunday June 1, 2014. A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late J. T. Lannom and Mattie Elizabeth Bingham Lannom Potts. Mrs. Patterson was also preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Croft and two grandchildren, Marcie Fann and Joe Dean Bell, and life partner, Walter Layhew. Mrs. Patterson is survived by a son, Mike Patterson, and his wife, Mary of Murfreesboro, TN; daughters, Wanda Bond and her husband John, and Lisa Duke and her husband Steve all of LaVergne, TN, and Joanne McCurley of Smyrna, TN; the father of her children, Jesse J. Patterson of Smyrna, TN; sister Bessie Klein of Murfreesboro, TN; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be Wednesday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM. Pastor Carlos Saddler will officiate. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery with grandsons and great-grandsons serving as pallbearers. Mrs. Patterson attented the Pentecostals of Smyrna, and loved the Atlanta Braves.
