Mary Catherine Riggs King, 85, went to be with the Lord on July 8, 2009. She is preceded in death by her father Joseph H. Riggs, mother Ruth Drummond Dorminey, and husband of 58 years, Reverend Archie D. King. She is survived by sisters Betty Hottes, Doris McBride, and Frances Spencer and her brother David Dorminey. She is also survived by her 6 children Dennis (Raylene), Claude (Reta), Phil (Kathy), Marsha Flinn (Jeff), Avery (Lynda), and Keith; 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. A native of Jacksonville, Florida; Mary lived a full life including travel as a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines on a DC-3. She sang opera and performed theater. She had a long career with Murfreesboro City Schools working with the children at Hobgood Elementary. But no career was more important than that of wife and mother which spanned more than 58 years. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Friday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Dr. H. Eugene Cotey, and Reverend Jeff J. Flinn, Marys Son in Law, will officiate with burial at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Mary's sons and grandsons will be pallbearers.
