February-16-1963 January-26-2014 Mary Mason McCauley died January 26, 2014 at her home in Atlanta, GA. She is survived by her husband William (Bill) McCauley, parents Curtis and Peggy Mason of Murfreesboro TN and brother Franklin (Jackie) Mason of Lafayette, IN. She loved her role as Aunt to Curtis, Katie and Gabriel of Lafayette, IN. Funeral sevices will be 10:30 AM Thursday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Bro. Tony Holt officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 PM at Head Springs Cemetery in Belfast, TN. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Mary was born in Murfreesboro, TN. She attended MTSU Campus School, Central Middle School and Oakland High School where she was named a Merit Scholar. She received a Presidential Scholarship to MTSU where she enjoyed having her father as one of her professors. Following in her father's footsteps she received a scholarship to Miami University of Ohio and graduated with a Masters of Scientific Communication. Later she did graduate work at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy New York She worked as a Science Editor/Writer at Oak Ridge Associated Universities in Oak Ridge TN. There she met her husband and for a while worked together, he making training films and she writing the scripts. After they moved to Atlanta she worked as a Health Scientist and Science Editor for the CDC. She and her husband loved to travel and in her job at CDC she was able to travel. A highlight of her life was working parts of two summers in Namibia Africa. She was a member of the Church of Christ and considered Kingwood Church of Christ in Murfreesboro her home. Mary was a source of joy to her family. She will be greatly missed by family, friends and co-workers. Mary's favorite charities are Habitat for Humanity and area food banks.
