Mary Frances Kemp Hayes, age 88, of Murfreesboro, TN, died Thursday, January 30, 2014. A native of Carthage, TN, she was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Bryon and Mary Katherine Woodard Kemp; and her sister, Mavis Jean West. Funeral services will be Monday at 2:00PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Dr. Eugene Cotey will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Hayes is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Arnold Hayes; daughter, Risé (Pat Patterson) Hayes; son, Jimmy Hayes and his wife Teresa all of Murfreesboro; sister, Dorothy Oldham of Carthage, TN; grandchildren, James and Julie Kate Hayes both of Murfreesboro; several cousins, nieces and nephews, and two grand dogs, Peanut and Hurricane. Mrs. Hayes was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Smith County High School and received her Bachelor's and Master's Degree from MTSU. Mrs. Hayes was a retired teacher and supervisor of attendance for Rutherford County Schools with over 49 years of service. She was a member of the Murfreesboro Women's Club and a lifetime member of the TEA and REA.
