Mary Saille Scott Corlew, 83, died at home on December 23, 2010 following an extended illness. A native of Birmingham, she had lived in Murfreesboro for 60 years following her marriage to Robert E. Corlew. She was a graduate of Huntingdon College and Vanderbilt University, and she taught at White Bluff High School, Christiana High School, and served as an adjunct professor of history at MTSU. Mrs. Corlew was an active member of her community, and she served as Regent of Oaklands Association, founding President of the Murfreesboro Symphony Guild, a member of the Dames Club, the Rutherford County Beautification Commission, President of the Womans Club, and was a member of the Craddock Study Club for over 40 years. She was active in her book club for 45 years; she taught the Anne Huggins Sunday School class at First United Methodist Church and was active in the Wesleyan Guild. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the Morning Circle and the Flower Guild. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Robert E. Corlew, her children, Robert E. Corlew, III, Daniel Scott Corlew, and Mary Catherine Sevier, and her grandchildren, Melissa Ann Corlew, Christopher James Corlew, Robert E. Corlew, IV, David Andrew Corlew, John Scott Corlew, and Mary Saille Scott Sevier. Visitation will be Sunday, December 26 from 6:00 " 8:00 pm at Woodfin Chapel, and her funeral will be held Monday, December 27, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Murfreesboro. A private burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to The Womans Club, Oaklands Association, or First Presbyterian Church, Murfreesboro.
