Obituary

Mary Louise Caldwell of Murfreesboro, TN, peacefully slipped the surly bonds of this earth and entered into the Kingdom of her Lord on Tuesday, July 7, 2015, while surrounded by her family. In addition to her parents, Fred Parson and Mary Elizabeth Walters Hodges, she was greeted in Heaven by her husband of 54 years, Archie, son Steve and brother Jim Hodges. Those left to mourn her passing include her loving son and main caretaker, Gregory of Murfreesboro, son Mark and his wife Ingrid Gurney of Oak Ridge, daughter Betsy (Beth) Caldwell Parsons, favored son-in-law Dave Parsons of Murfreesboro and sister Ruth Ann Merrill of Sonoma, CA. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren Kaila Caldwell and Katie and Zach Parsons as well as dear friends Margaret Johnson and Doris Payne. Affectionately known as Miss Mary', she was born in 1933 in Bluefield, WV and filled several roles in life including military wife, home maker, school secretary, PTA Mom and community volunteer. She was widely known as a long-time employee at Walmart in Smyrna where she thoroughly enjoyed working for over 20 years, first as a cashier and ending as a Pharmacy Tech. After her retirement at age 74, Miss Mary stayed active in several local groups including The Blackman Club, Almaville FCE, Red Hat Society and the Belles of St. Clair. She greatly enjoyed taking trips with the Smyrna and Murfreesboro Senior Citizens Centers as well as working in her yard, but her most treasured moments were those spent with her grandchildren she so adored. Special thanks to Caris Hospice, Dr. Johann Brandes, Dr. Arthur Ulm and Dr. Charles Wendt as well as the staff at St. Thomas Rutherford and Midtown, Tennessee Oncology and Premier Radiology for their exceptional care of our sweet Mom over the past 8 months. In accordance to her wishes there will be a private grave-side service at Pinelawn Cemetery in Pineville, KY at a later date as she is laid to rest between her husband and oldest child.
