Mary Bone , a long-time resident of the Murfreesboro area, passed away Saturday the 14th of October peacefully in her daughter's home in Phoenix, Arizona.
Mary was born in 1952 in Detroit, Michigan, to William and Esther Veno. Mary received an Associate's degree from Oakland Community College in 1972. This was the same year she married the love of her life, Stephen Bone.
Mary had a varied professional life going from working as a legal secretary, to realtor and finally being employed at the bookstore at Middle Tennessee State University, where she worked until her retirement in 2013. However, she was most proud of her accomplishments as a wife and mother.
Mary was an avid golfer, enjoyed the outdoors, travel, movies and spending time with her beloved family. In addition, she was known for her remarkable sense of humor. However, she will be best remembered for her deep love of family and friends.
Mary was diagnosed with a rare form of pancreatic cancer in the fall of 2016. Because of her tenacious spirit, she decided to fight and relocated to Phoenix to receive treatment from Mayo Clinic.
Mary is preceded in death by both parents and her late husband Stephen. She is survived by her brother Robert; her daughter Sarah and partner David; son Michael and wife Bethany, as well as her grandchildren; Penelope and Mathilde.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (https://secure.pancan.org/site/Donation2?df_id=1520&1520.donation=form1 ) in her honor.
A Celebration of Mary's Life will be held Saturday, October 21st in Phoenix, Arizona, at the Haymaker Grill at 1pm. 4717 E Bell Rd, Phoenix
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 4th in Murfreesboro, Tennessee at Woodfin Chapel from 1-2pm. Graveside Service will follow at 2pm. A wake will be held at the family's home following the service. All are invited to celebrate Mary's life. www.woodfinchapel.com
