Martha "Sally" McCormick Vance, age 82, of Smyrna, TN, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2016. A native of Winchester, TN, she was the daughter of the late, Floyd and Molly Smith McCormick. She was also preceded in death by five sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna. Brother Brian Pitts will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Vance is survived by her husband, former Chief of Police for the city of Smyrna, Chief Charles Vance; children, Mike Lester and his wife, Mary Ann of Smyrna, TN, Debbie Kavanaugh and her husband John of Mims, FL, Dennis Lester and his wife Penny of Sebring, FL, and Donna Lester Eatherly of Murfreesboro, TN; step-daughter, Connie Vance Smith of Murfreesboro, TN; step-son, Richard Alan Vance of Murfreesboro, TN; a sister, Priscilla McCormick of Murfreesboro, TN; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Mrs. Vance was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed camping and fishing. She also loved music and liked dancing. The family would like to extend a thank you for the love and care given by Jennifer Nelson and Gentiva Hospice.

The Smyrna Police Department Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials in memory of Mrs. Vance can be made to Gentiva Hospice.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna.
