Martha Jo Brandon Newman, age 73, of Smyrna, TN, died Tuesday, May 1, 2018. A native of Murfreesboro, she was preceded in death by her parents, Ray Campbell Brandon Sr. and Ruth Webb Brandon.

Funeral services will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

She is survived by her son, Charles E. Newman Jr. of LaVergne, TN; daughter, Laura Newman of LaVergne, TN; brothers, Ray Campbell Brandon Jr. and his wife Nancy of Lebanon, TN and Charles Brandon of Nashville, TN; along with many nieces and nephews.

Ms. Newman was a 1962 graduate of Central High School and she received a Bachelor's Degree from Peabody University in 1966 and a Bachelor's in Architecture in 1992 from the University of Tennessee - Knoxville. She was a retired Art Teacher. She was also a member of the Eastern Star in Murfreesboro 363 and a proud member of the Moose Lodge.

Family will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials in memory of Ms. Newman can be made to the Order of the Eastern Star Murfreesboro 363.

Visitation will be Friday at 12:00 p.m. one hour before the service at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. An Eastern Star Service will begin 12:45 p.m.
