Martha Bass McCord, age 87, of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. Born in Giles County, TN to the late Elvy and Kathleen Bass. She is also preceded in death by her husband Dr. Richard McCord and her brothers, Bill Bass and David Bass.

Martha is survived by her children, Kathy (Randy) Bennett and Chris (Rita) McCord and; her grandchildren, Ashley (Jamie) McCurry, Ethan McCord, and Lucy McCord; and her sister, Elaine (Rob) Brown; and her amazing caregivers, Darlene Holland, Charla Hunter, and Doris Ann Goodner, and many nieces and nephews.

Martha was a graduate of Martin College and MTSU where she got her degree as a teacher. She taught for 38 years at Hobgood and Northfield Elementary School. She was a member at the First Baptist Church.

Visitation with the family will be held at Woodfin Memorial Chapel on Saturday April 4, 2026, starting at 11:00 AM until the funeral service at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
