Martha Smotherman Madeo, age 78, of Murfreesboro died Monday, July 18, 2016. Mrs. Madeo was a native of Murfreesboro. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ben L. Parsley who died in 1969 and Joe Madeo who died in 2016; a daughter, Valerie Sue Parsley; parents, R.H. "Buddy" and Mary Blankenship Smotherman; and sisters, Betty Jo Smotherman and Mary Lou Parsley.

Mrs. Madeo is survived by her son, Rollie Reich Parsley and his wife Libby of Murfreesboro; daughters, Aggie Madeo Davis and her husband Carey of Murfreesboro and Jane Gerl and her husband Bill of Atlanta; sister, Nancy Barnett of Shelbyville; five grandchildren, Ben Louis Parsley of Murfreesboro, Beth Parsley Carter of Bloomington, IL, Madie, Caroline, and Anna Cate Davis all of Murfreesboro; and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10:00am Thursday at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Father Nicholas Allen will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00pm until 7:00pm Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Madeo was a 1955 graduate of Central High School and attended MTSU. She was former owner of Bedford Cheese Company in Shelbyville before her retirement.
