Martha Sue Becton, age 87, of Chattanooga, TN, died Friday March 13, 2015. Born in Murfreesboro, TN, she was the daughter of the late Eddie Taylor and Kittie Hawkins Becton. Martha was also preceded by her sister, Mary Becton Park. Martha is survived by her nephews, John Park and his wife Rebecca, and David Park; four great nieces, Hannah, Sarah, Rachel, and Prisca; one great nephew, Andrew, and several close cousins and friends. Martha was a graduate of MTSU, University of Chattanooga, and Emory University. She was a librarian and teacher, and taught with the Dependent Schools System in Japan and Germany for five years. She served as librarian at The Bright School, where she established the library, and at Hixson Elementary School. Martha served as a director on the board of Chattanooga Area Schools Federal Credit Union for forty-one years. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Chattanooga, where she worked in the library and was a volunteer in several other areas. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an honorary women teachers' society. Graveside service and burial will be 1:00 PM (Eastern Standard Time) 12:00 noon (Central Standard Time) Monday March 16, 2015, at Prosperity Cemetery in Auburntown, TN. A memorial service will be announced, and will be held at a later date at the First Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN.
