Obituary

Mark Alan Tucker, age 57, of Smyrna, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 26, 1968, in Jackson, Tennessee, Mark was the cherished son of Billy Joe and Bobbie Jean Jenkins Tucker.

Mark was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Keitha Kay Berry Tucker; his daughter, Kaitlin Nichole Tucker Steel and her husband Austin; his son, Robert Alan Tucker; his parents, Billy Joe and Bobbie Jean Tucker; his brother, Greg Tucker and his wife Pam; nephews Andrew Tucker and his wife Hannah and Alex Tucker; and brothers-in-law Carl Berry and his wife Catherine and Brent Berry and his wife Beth.

A proud graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin, Mark earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1990. Over the next 35 years, he built a respected career in finance and accounting, serving with dedication and integrity in roles with the City of Franklin, the Town of Smyrna, and Rutherford County, among others.

Mark was a faithful member of Highland Heights Church of Christ, where he lived out his beliefs through quiet service, kind words, and a generous spirit. His faith was evident not only in what he said, but in how he treated others—with humility, compassion, and grace. He had a special gift for making people feel seen and valued, and he touched countless lives with his gentle strength.

Mark was also known for his deep generosity. Whether through anonymous donations, acts of service, or simply showing up when someone was in need, he gave freely and without expectation. His giving heart left a lasting impact on many, often in ways that were never publicly known but deeply felt by those he helped.

Outside of work and church, Mark found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved playing golf, watching sports, and working with his hands—especially woodworking and figuring out how things worked. He had a natural curiosity and a knack for fixing just about anything. Mark also had a tender heart for children and was known for his ability to connect with them in the most genuine and joyful ways.

His commitment to service extended into the community. Mark was a Paul Harris Fellow with the Rotary Club, a member of the Government Finance Officers Association, a past secretary of the Tennessee Government Finance Officers Association, a Leadership Rutherford graduate, and a Certified Municipal Finance Officer with the State of Tennessee.
