Mark Stephen
Stewman
February 9, 1959 – August 21, 2022
Mark Stephen Stewman was a loving husband and father known for his sense of humor and quick wit. He left this world after a short battle with cancer at age 63.
Mark was born to JD and Barbara Stewman on February 9, 1959. He grew up in Fayetteville, TN before leaving to attend college at Tennessee Tech to study industrial engineering. He went on to earn his master's degree at MTSU and had a long, successful career.
A Sunday School teacher for many years, Mark was strong in his faith. He often said he was not a teacher, he only facilitated the discussions where he learned right along with the class. Mark's example for following Christ is one that he proudly passed on to his two sons.
An avid sports fan, one of Mark's greatest joys was coaching his boys. This spring, Mark coached Brady's flag football team with the help of Kyle as assistant coach. They finished the season with a winning record and created priceless memories in the process.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents JD and Barbara Stewman. He is survived by his wife Tammy, sons Kyle and Brady; sister LeAnne (Jimmy) Merrell; parents in law, Jerry and Becky Baggett; sister in law, Tracey (Bill) McCormick; ten nieces and nephews, George Merrell, Cambria Merrell, Billy (Jen) McCormick, Amanda McCormick, Sean McCormick, Megan (Declan) McCormick, Elizabeth McCormick, Emily (Johnpaul) Marinaccio, Thomas McCormick, Kacie McCormick; great nephews Ben McCormick, Dominic Marinaccio, Lorenzo Marinaccio and great nieces Allie McCormick and Josie McCormick.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 26th at LaVergne First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 1pm-5pm followed by the service at 5pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sunshine Bridge Animal Rescue (sunshinebridge.org) who brought us Bruin and Suzy.
