Obituary

Marjorie Harrison Powers, age 84, of Murfreesboro, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at MTMC. She was a native of Rutherford County and daughter of the late William C. and Mazie Hotsenpillar Harrison, Sr. Mrs. Powers is survived by her husband of 66 years William R. Powers, Sr.; son William Powers, Jr. and his wife Carolyn; daughter Kay Spence and her husband Mitchel; brothers Charlie F. Harrison and his wife Jane, and Harvey Harrison; sister Nancy Potts and her husband Ray, all of Murfreesboro; four grandchildren Josh Spence and his wife Kristie, Jessica Spence, Michael Powers and his girlfriend Paige Franks, and Melissa Lee and her husband Jeff; and three great-granchildren Lucas Powers, Kenley Spence, and Camden Manning. She was preceded in death by two brothers Colie Harrison, Jr. and Beecher Harrison. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Carl McKnight will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Powers was a graduate of Rockvale High School and of the Baptist Faith. She and her husband managed Motel Murfreesboro for 26 years. Mrs. Powers was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother, lovingly known as "NaNa." Visitation will be 4:00 until 8:00 PM Friday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Mrs. Powers.
