Marion "Cookie" Slimak, age 92, of Murfreesboro, TN went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 4, 2016. A native of New York, NY she was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Slimak; parents, Christopher and Mary O'Connor Moore; brother, Thomas Moore; sister, Julie Morority; son-in-law, Jeff Dieter; and grandson, Brad Caldwell.

A funeral mass will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church. Father Jacob Dio will officiate. Burial will be in Mapleview Cemetery.

Mrs. Slimak is survived by her daughter, Barbara Dieter; granddaughters, Lynn Caldwell and Amy Laird and her husband Thomas; great-grandchildren, Emma Lynn Laird, Stephen Laird, Jackson Caldwell and Garrett Caldwell all of Murfreesboro; sister, Katherine Karamichael of NY; beloved family friend, Marcia Dieter Bidwell and her husband Kerry and her family; along with many nieces, nephews and loving family.

Mrs. Slimak was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church. She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse with over 30 years at Akron City Hosptial in Akron, OH. Mrs. Slimak was very family involved and took pride in attending every baseball and basketball game along with dance performances by her great-grandchildren. She always looked forward to going to the beach with her family every year. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and many friends.

Jackson Caldwell, Garrett Caldwell, Stephen Laird, Thomas Laird, Kenny Laird and D Thornton will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials in memory of Mrs. Slimak can be made to the St. Luke Catholic Church Building Fund.

Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna with a Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m.
