Annie Marie McKnight, age 87, formerly of Murfreesboro, TN passed away Monday, July 11, 2016. She was born in Sherwood, TN to the late Simon Claude and Pina Lee Maxwell. Marie was a member of the Church of Christ. After retiring as office manager for Sperry's Restaurant in Nashville, she worked as a cashier for Kroger into her late 70's. She was a strong, hard-working woman who loved her children, family, and faithful canine companion, Bear.

Marie is survived by her son, James William McKnight, Jr. and his wife Ann of Boise, ID; three daughters, Sharon Leigh McKnight of Murfreesboro, TN, Janice Carol Bonner of Nashville, and Rosemary McKnight Fritts and her husband Charles of Lawrenceburg, TN; siblings, Nancy Mangrum and her husband John of LaVergne, TN, Thomas Norman Maxwell of Maryville, TN, James Sidney Maxwell of Cowan, TN, and Mamie Lois Garner of Murfreesboro; sisters-in-law, Ornella Maxwell of El Paso, TX and Frances McKnight Sherman of Huntsville, AL; brother-in-law, Ed McKnight of Monteagle, TN; eight grandchildren, James William McKnight, III and his wife Tamira of Boise, ID, Thomas Russell McKnight of Boise, Rebecca Marie McKnight-Augspurger and her husband Jason of Madison, TN, Lauren Alexandria Bonner of Nashville, Will Fritts of Murfreesboro, and Bethany Rose Fritts, Samuel Curtis Fritts, and Nathanel Joseph Fritts all of Lawrenceburg; two great-grandchildren, Ellie Rose Fritts and Cole Alexandria Cohen; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lois Eileen "Tootsie" McKnight; brother, Leon Maxwell; and sisters-in-law, Ruth Maxwell and Billie Ruth Maxwell. She was loved by her family and will be dearly missed.

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, July 13, 2016 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 10:00am at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Minister Glenn Garner will officiate. Burial will take place Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 2:30pm in Mount View Cemetery in Sherwood, TN.
