Marcella Lufkin Burgess, age 95, of Murfreesboro, passed away October 29, 2016.  She was a native of Rutherford County, and daughter of the late Walter and Ollie Hall Lufkin.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro with burial in Mapleview Cemetery in Smyrna.

Mrs. Burgess is survived by sons, Ernest G. Burgess and wife Peggy, William L. Burgess and wife Beverly; grandchildren, Lynn Foster (Marc), Tommy Burgess (Julie), Kyle Burgess (Elena), Laura Burgess, Beth Brown (Norman), Gina Senne, and Marcy Beavers (Scott); 12 great grandchildren and one great great grandson; sisters, Evelyn Baltimore and Frances Richards; and a brother, Robert Lufkin.  She was preceded in death by her husband, E. G. "Burr" Burgess, a sister, Margaret Maxwell, and a brother, Howard Lufkin.

Mrs. Burgess was a member of East Main St. Church of Christ and was a longtime employee of Goldsteins Department Store.

Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Grandchildren and great grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to thank the staff of NHC and devoted caregivers for all their loving care of Mrs. Burgess.
