October 13, 1934 – September 19, 2021
Maie Short Edwards, age 86 of the Fellowship Community in Mt. Juliet, TN, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2021. A native of Moore County, TN, she was the daughter of the late Guy Clayborn Short, Sr. and Geraldine Oldfield Short. Mrs. Edwards was also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Bennie Lee Edwards, a brother, Guy Clayborn Short, Jr. and a sister, Carolyn Ray Short Moorehead.
Mrs. Edward is survived by her brother, Jimmie Short and his wife Barbara of Franklin ,TN ; sister, Charlotte Brown and her husband Leonard of Cowan, TN; niece, Kim Young and her husband Steve; nephews, Dudley Brown and his wife Gay, Ty Short and his wife Indira, Ricky Short and his wife Mary; and several other nieces and nephews; great nephews and nieces; Ryan Young, Stacy Carter, Susie Young, Nathan Brown, Susanne and Clint Short, Kenneth, Nicole, Alison, Dylan Short, Sydney, Presley, and Lily Mae Carter, Gavin Young, Kaylyn and Kaleb Jones; and great-great nieces Sloan and Greyson.
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Living Springs Baptist Church, 4559 Weakley Lane Mt. Juliet, TN 37122. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at the church with Rev. Edgar Boles officiating. Burial will follow in the Lannom Cemetery with Ty Short, Steve Young, Ronnie Edwards, Sammy Edwards, Duwayne Kessler, Gary Powell, Wayne Jones, and Gary Palmer serving as pallbearers.
Mrs. Edwards was a graduate of Tullahoma High School and received her BS degree from Pikeville College and her Master's degree from MTSU. She taught school for 25 years in the Metro Nashville school system before her retirement.
Mrs. Edwards was a faithful member of Living Springs Baptist Church and loved the Lord. She loved church work, mission work, Sunday school, and library work. She also served as a church greeter. Mrs. Edwards was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Gideon's International in the Smyrna, LaVergne Camp.
Due to the concern of Covid, the family ask and would appreciate that mask be worn during this time.
Memorials may also be made to Living Springs Baptist Church, The Gideon's International, or St. Jude Children's Hospital in memory of Mrs. Edwards.
