Mabel Sloan Barnes, age 91, of Murfreesboro went home to be with the Lord on March 30, 2011. Mrs. Barnes was a native of Rutherford County and was the daughter of the late Byron and Lockie Anderson Sloan. She was preceded in death by her husband Jesse Lee Barnes who died in 1970, and her brother Forrest Sloan and sister Elizabeth Graham. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Bud Mitchell and Rev. Ron Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Barnes is survived by two daughters and their husbands Carolyn and Mason Brandon; Sandra and Gus Drake, all of Murfreesboro. Grandchildren Kevin (Tonia) Drake; Joe (Laurie) Brandon, Jr.; Melanie (Lee) Maxwell; John David (Becki) Drake; nine great-grandchildren Zachery and Ashlee Brandon; HannahLee and MariMegan Maxwell; Rachel Beth and Benjamin Drake; Andrew, Matthew and Ryan Drake. Mrs. Barnes was a member of Bellwood Baptist Church and a 1938 graduate of Kittrell High School. Family will serve as pallbearers.
