Smyrna

Lynette (Luella) Meyers, age 86, of Smyrna, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. A native of Crown Point, Indiana, Lynette lived a life filled with love, kindness, faith, and a deep devotion to her family and the many children whose lives she touched throughout her remarkable career as an educator.

Lynette was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Duane Eugene Meyers, for more than 65 years. Their enduring love and commitment to one another were a beautiful example of a lifelong partnership. Her family was the center of her world, and she found her greatest joy in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with them, celebrate their accomplishments, share in their laughter, and create memories that will be treasured for generations to come.

A passionate educator, Mrs. Meyers retired after more than 40 years of teaching in Davidson County. She had a special gift for shaping young minds and understood that teaching was about so much more than lessons in a classroom.Lynette’s faith was another cornerstone of her life. As a faithful member of Hope Lutheran Church, she found comfort and purpose in her relationship with the Lord and joy in serving her church community. Her love of music was equally special. An accomplished piano player, she found beauty and expression through music, sharing that gift with those around her. She also served as a church choir director, using her musical talents to bring people together in worship and fellowship. Through her faith and music, she touched hearts in ways that words alone could never fully express.

Those who knew Lynette will remember her for her gentle spirit, warm heart, and genuine kindness. She had a special gift for making people feel welcomed, valued, and loved, and one of the ways she showed that love was through her cooking. Lynette loved to cook in abundance, always making sure there was more than enough to go around. Her home was a place where loved ones could gather, share a meal, enjoy one another’s company, and make lasting memories. For Lynette, cooking was more than preparing food; it was a way of bringing people together and showing how much she cared. There was always room at her table and love in her home. Her legacy is one of compassion, faithfulness, generosity, and love—a legacy that will continue to live on through the many lives she touched and the cherished memories shared around her table.
