Roche
November 25, 1974 – April 27, 2017
LtCol Sean Roche, age 42, of Murfreesboro, TN passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017. He was born in Silver Spring, MD to Mortimer and Carmel Morrissey Roche.
LtCol Roche enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1993. After proving himself to be dependable, hard worker, the Marine Corps recognized his leadership potential. He was soon selected for the Marine Corps Meritorious Commissioning Program. After Graduating with his Bachelor's Degree from Texas A&M, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in 1997.
He soon became an Infantry Officer and then served as a rifle platoon commander and company executive officer. After his promotion to Captain he was assigned as an instructor and mentor at Marine Corps Officer Candidate School in Quantico, VA.
In 2004, LtCol Roche was assigned to the job of which he was most proud; Commander of Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 4th Marines – Alpha Raiders. It was during this assignment that he led his company of infantry Marines in combat during the Battle of Falluja, Iraq.
In 2007, LtCol Roche was assigned as the Inspector-Instructor for India Company, 3rd Battalion, 24th Marines in Nashville, TN. It was during this assignment that he met and married his beloved wife, Aubrey.
LtCol Roche finished his career as the Commanding Officer, Headquarters Battalion, 2nd Marine Division in Camp Lejeune, NC.
LtCol Roche is survived by his wife of 9 years, Aubrey Roche; son, Teague Roche; parents, Mortimer and Carmel Roche of Palm Beach, FL; and sister Bridget Roche also of Palm Beach.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with a prayer service at 7:00pm. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 5, 2017 at 11:00am at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Burial with Military Honors will take place at Arlington National Cemetery on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 9:00am.
