Obituary

Lt. Colonel Jeffrey W. "Jeff" Fisher passed away on February 26, 2022, in Nashville, Tennessee.  He was 77 years old and had suffered from Alzheimer's disease for several years.

Born in Ohio to Clifton Shaw "Bud" and Jane Fisher (both deceased), he attended Junior Military Academy in Tennessee, and graduated from Isaac Litton High School in Nashville in 1963.

He married his high school sweetheart Joan Sandra Bartel in 1966, and they were together for 39 years until her death in 2005.

After U.S. Army Officer Candidate School, he saw active duty in the Vietnam War as a field artillery captain and received a Bronze Star for his service. He later served as a reservist until his retirement from the military in 2004. His professional career was spent in the construction and steel fabrication industry, in partnership with his father-in-law, Frank T. Bartel (Mildred), now deceased.

Known for an acerbic, sometimes kooky, sense of humor, he was a Civil War history buff who loved traveling with his wife and friends. He relished chocolate, gave really good gifts, and made super sack hats for the little ones. He enjoyed wordplay games, was a creative master-builder of school projects, always had a Plan, and could find True North no matter where or when.

Col. Fisher is survived by his three daughters, Carol Fisher Dunne (John) of Nashville, Catherine Camille Looney (Russell) of Franklin, and Elizabeth Ann Fisher of Franklin; his brother, Clifton McRae "Mac" Fisher of Columbia; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 12:00 PM Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Rev. Michael O'Bannon officiating.  Visitation will be two hours prior to the service.
