LOUISE BRACKEEN ALLEN BLAIR, age 79, died Saturday, May 30, 2009. Visitation will be 4:00 " 8:00 pm Tuesday at Smyrna Church of Christ and the funeral service will be 10:00 am Wednesday also at Smyrna Church of Christ. Tim Lavender will officiate. Burial will be in Mapleview Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her parents, Aaron and Mary Brackeen, and two husbands, Neil Allen and Riley Clark Blair. She is survived by her children, Steve and his wife Suzy Allen of Concord, Massachusetts; daughter Emilie and her husband Ray Cassidy of Cinncinnati, Ohio; stepsons and daughters-in-laws Wayne and Carrie Blair and Dennis and Angie Blair all of Smyrna; Jimmy and Tere Blair of Lavergne;stepdaughters and sons-in-laws Virinia and James Haralson of Smyrna; Patricia and Charles Parker; and Pamelia Blair all of Lavergne and 13 grandchildren. She was originally from North Alabama; after graduation from Huntsville High School in 1947 she came to Nashville Business College where she received her diploma in 1948 and immediately went to work for the State of Tennessee Department of Public Health. She retired in 1990 after working in several sections of the Department of Public Health among which was the Healing Arts Board where she was responsible for issuing the licenses for all the health professions except nursing. The last two years that she worked she was the administrator for the board of Medical Examiners. Following having breast cancer, she volunteered for the American Cancer Societys Reach to Recovery Program. After her first husband died , she trained to be a Volunteer with Alive Hospice to assist with terminally ill patients and their families. Also, she was the leader of the support group for men and women who had lost their spouses. She was a longtime member of the Smyrna Church of Christ where she was involved in several ladies ministries. Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers.
