Louis Thomas "Tom" Parkerson, age 72, of Murfreesboro passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2015. He was a native of West Palm Beach, FL and the son of the late Rudy and Ida Backaline Parkerson. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Rudy and John Parkerson. Funeral service will be 11:00am Friday, July 3, 2015 at New Vision Baptist Church, 1750 N Thompson Ln, Murfreesboro, TN 37129. Ray Moss and David Baker will officiate. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Parkerson, sons, Thomas Parkerson and his wife Laurel, Paul Parkerson and his wife Mandy and Matthew Parkerson and his wife Leah, and nine grandchildren. Mr. Parkerson was a member of New Vision Baptist Church and a United States Navy veteran. Tom was a former President of the Columbia Lions Club, former President of the Columbia Soccer Association, President of the Columbia American Little League, inducted into the Tennessee State Soccer Association Hall of Fame, coached the initial soccer team at Whitthorne Middle School and was a founder of the Tennessee State Middle School Soccer Association. Needless to say he loved youth and touched so many lives. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00pm Thursday, July 2, 2015 and one hour prior to the service Friday, July 3, 2015 at New Vision Baptist Church, 1750 N Thompson Ln, Murfreesboro, TN 37129.
