LINNIE JANE BREWER CARROLL, age 69, of Antioch died Sunday, May 9, 2010. She was a native of Rutherford County and the daughter of the late Claude and Mattie Young Brewer. She was also preceded in death by her brother, J.B. Brewer. Funeral service will be 3:00pm Wednesday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, James L. Carroll, daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Jimmy McLean of Hermitage, brother, Roy E. Brewer of Lady Lake, FL, sisters, Eva Vance, Peggy Edwards, Adeline Smotherman all of Smyrna, and Jennie Wilson of Cane Ridge, grandchildren, Zach and Justin McLean, and Meghan (Joe) Preisler. Mrs. Carroll was a graduate of Smyrna High School in 1958 and Nashville Business College and attended U.T. Nashville. She worked for Hertz in secretarial and accounting positions from 1959 to 1968. She was employed by Avco (now Vought Aircraft Industries) for 36 years holding positions in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Contracts, and Finance. During her career in aerospace, she worked her way from Personnel Clerk to Executive Secretary of Human Resources and Finance. She was instrumental in labor contract negotiations from 1983 through 2003. She retired on January 30, 2004.
