Leslie Paul Barrett, age 83 of Smyrna, died Tuesday at the Tennessee State Veterans Home. He was a native of Rutherford County and a son of the late Alvin Barrett and Willie Lannom Higdon. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Jordan Barrett; a brother, Alton Barrett; and a sister, Daisy Barrett.

Survivors include two children, Joan Anderson and Sam Barrett and wife Lynette, all of Smyrna; a step-son, Walter Richards, Jr of Murfreesboro; two grandchildren, Tim Barrett and wife Leslie and Eric Barrett and wife Samantha; four great grandchildren, Ashton, Benton, Kenton, and Weston; siblings, Johnny, Alton Leslie, Ruth, Ruby, and Alvin; and a host of other loving family and friends.

Mr. Barrett was a member of Giles Creek Baptist Church, a United States Navy Veteran, and a carpenter by trade.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna with Bro. Terry Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Mullins Hill Cemetery.
