In Loving Memory of Lesia Alexander McCluskey

Lesia Alexander McCluskey, 68, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.

Born and raised in Rutherford County, Lesia lived a life defined by unwavering faith, unconditional love, and selfless devotion to her family. A faithful member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, Lesia lived her Christian faith each day. She didn’t simply attend church, she lived the teachings of Christ through her kindness, compassion, generosity, and the way she loved others. Her faith was her foundation, guiding her through life’s greatest joys and deepest sorrows.

She was welcomed into Heaven by her beloved husband and best friend, Joe Brent McCluskey, who passed away in December 2025. Their love was one that stood the test of time, and while life without Brent was never quite the same, she carried his memory in her heart every day until they were reunited again. She was also preceded in death by her parents, James Alexander, Zelma Nobles Alexander and brother, Steven Alexander.

Lesia retired from the City of Murfreesboro after many years of dedicated service, but her greatest life’s work was her family. Nothing brought her more happiness than being “Gamma.” Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and every moment spent with them filled her heart with immeasurable joy. Whether celebrating milestones, sharing laughter, or simply enjoying everyday moments together, she treasured each of her thirteen grandchildren beyond measure. Being surrounded by her family filled her heart in a way nothing else could, and she made sure each grandchild knew just how deeply they were loved.

She leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her memory: her children, Adam McCluskey (Jeren), Bryson McCluskey (Kristi), and Lauren Sowden (Adam); and her beloved grandchildren, Madison Grace; Alexis Paige; Addilynn Kallie; Easton Cash; Makenna Sloan; Walker Grey; James Thomas; Magnolia Eloise; Poppy Jo; Archer Joe; Emerson Rose; Iris Mae; Eleanor Elizabeth

She is also survived by her sisters, Debbie LaForest, Martha Taylor (Elvis); her brothers, James Alexander (Kathy) and Jerry Alexander (Tammy); along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives were touched by her warmth and gentle spirit.

To know Lesia was to know unconditional love. She had a gentle spirit, a servant’s heart, and a quiet strength that made everyone around her feel seen, valued, and welcomed. She never met a stranger, always found joy in caring for others, and loved with her whole heart. Whether through a warm meal, a listening ear, a comforting hug, or a whispered prayer, she reflected the love of Christ in countless everyday moments. Her kindness left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to cross her path.

While her absence leaves an ache that words cannot fully express, we find comfort in knowing she is exactly where she longed to be, reunited with her beloved Brent, free from pain, and welcomed into the arms of her Savior. Though our hearts are broken, Heaven is sweeter because she is there.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 11, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Though we will miss her every single day, we are forever grateful for the gift of having been loved by her. Her faith, kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for her family will continue to guide us, comfort us, and live on in each of us. Her greatest legacy is not only the family she leaves behind, but the love she poured into every life she touched. We will honor her by loving one another the way she loved us, with grace, compassion, forgiveness, and an open heart. Until we meet again, we will carry her with us always, finding peace in the promise that this is not goodbye, but simply, “Until we see you again.”

“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.”

Matthew 25:23

If love alone could have kept her here, she would have lived forever.
