LEONARD RAY BOWEN age 81 of Murfreesboro, died Tuesday December 2, 2008 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late John and Alta George Bowen. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, with William Gatlin officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. He is survived by daughters: Melissa (Robert) Smyth of Ocean Springs, MS., Kimberly Jean Foster of Lewisburg, Tn., Jennifer Nichole (William) Gatlin of Austin, TX., brothers: Paul Bowen, Richard Bowen both of Murfreesboro, Sisters: Ann Davenport, Cassie Rose, Dorothy Adams all of Murfreesboro, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He is preceded by his wife Betty Jean, grandson Robert Smyth, and a brother Sonny Bowen. He retired from Textron as a Maintenance Supervisor and was a member of Bellwood Baptist Church.
