Leona Lee Barrett, age 82 of Murfreesboro, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 27, 2011. Lee was born in Louisville KY and moved to Murfreesboro at the age of 8 months, her parents were Estelle and Eldridge Simpson of Murfreesboro. She attended Murfreesboro Central High and Business College of Murfreesboro; she was always taking classes to improve her skills in tax preparation. Lee was a tax preparer for many years with Deck Services and co owner of Barretts Texaco. She enjoyed flower arranging, crafts and visiting nursing homes. She also was very active in Church activities all her life. She was an active member of Fellowship United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband John A. Barrett and son Steve Barrett. She is survived by her daughter Brenda Barrett, son Christopher Lee Barrett. She is also survived by grandchildren, Samantha, Wilkes and Christian of Murfreesboro; Amie, Susan, Rebekah, Timothy, Beth Anne and Sarah who live in Huntsville, AL area and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, John Simpson and his wife Dot of Shelbyville, Allen Simpson and his wife Polly of Memphis and one sister Nellie Cook of Calhoun GA. She is also survived by her long time care giver Sarah Overall. Pallbearers will be Nephews, Randy Simpson, Jeff Simpson, David Simpson, Doug Simpson, long time friends and neighbors, Ray Downs and Sean Downs. In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the F.U.E.L. program at Fellowship United Methodist Church. This is a program that provides food to children over the weekends during that might not otherwise have anything to eat in our community. Funeral will be 2:00PM Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Don Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
