Lee Roy Pearson, age 102, of Murfreesboro, TN, died Saturday October 1, 2011 at the Alvin C. York VA Medical Center. A native of Christiana, TN, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Miller Pearson. Mr. Pearson was also preceded in death by his first wife Eunice Jernigan Pearson and then preceded in death by his second wife, Grace Wrather King Pearson after 22 years of marriage. Mr. Pearson had four brothers and two sisters, one of which was his twin sister. His first wife passed away with cancer. He later remarried and raised four step children. When asked about his step children, Mr. Pearson smiled, They dont make em any better . Mr. Pearson is survived by his step-children, Pat (Chuck) Stewart of Shelbyville, TN, Peggy (Wayne) Campbell of Daingerfield, TX, Jerry King of Smyrna, TN, and Deborah (William) Baker of Lascassas, TN; several nieces and nephews, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Pastor Dusty Ray officiating. Graveside service and burial will follow at 3:30PM in Spring Hill Cemetery in Nashville, TN. Mr. Pearson was a young Sergeant in the US Army during World War Two. He served tours in France and Germany. He served in Luxembourg, which was invaded by German Troops in 1949 and is known for Gustav Simons terror campaign to rid Luxembourg of anything Un- German . Mr. Pearson took part in Luxembourgs liberation in September 1944. He also took part in combat operations at the Rhine River where he sustained a thigh muscle injury. After a four year enlistment, Mr. Pearson came back to his home in Murfreesboro where he resided in the Buchanan community. He worked for Metro Nashville as a painter and painted houses behind the State Fair Grounds. He was also a member of the Church of Christ.
