Lawrence "Butch" Rodgers, age 72, of Smyrna, TN, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2015. A native of Lawrenceburg, TN, he was preceded in death by his parents, Paul E. Rodgers and Beatrice Crews Clayton; brother, Thomas Rodgers; and a sister, Willa Dean McAnally.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna. Brother Ron Caldwell will officiate. Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery.
Mr. Rodgers is survived by his daughter, Tammy Gary and her husband Harold Jr. of Smyrna; son, Jamie Rodgers and his wife Paula of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Bryce Gary, Kayla Silver and her husband Michael, Gavin Rodgers and Dylan Rodgers; great grandchild, Liam Silver; sister, Kathy Roberts and her husband Ken of Pleasant View, TN along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Rodgers was a former member of the Tennessee National Guard and was a Contract Hauler for The Tennessean and the Nashville Banner for over 40 years. He enjoyed fishing, Vanderbilt Sports and more especially watching his grandchildren play baseball.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna.
