Laura Lynn Porter Vaughan, age 57, of Murfreesboro, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025.

Laura was born May 18, 1968, in Atlanta, GA, to John A. Porter and Sue Freeman Copeland. She lived most of her life in Murfreesboro, and graduated from Riverdale High School.

Laura loved her family and extended family dearly. She was most happy when caring for her children and grandchildren, whom she loved with all her heart.  When she was young, she spent many summers and holidays with her grandparents, the Freemans of Murfreesboro and the Porters of Lithonia, Ga. She also had the benefit and love of Granny Geraldine Copeland, who treated her as her own grandchild. Laura spent a great deal of her life returning the love of those who cared for and raised her as they aged. Her children and grandchildren will be the legacy of her life and love.

She was preceded in death by her dad, Bobby Copeland. She is survived by her mother, Sue Freeman Copeland, brother Chris Copeland and his wife Jenny, brother Larry Porter, daughters Christie Vaughan and Chelsea McKnight, son Shane Vaughan, grandson Waylon Young, granddaughter Macallan McKnight, and nieces who loved her as Lala, Sydney and Callie Copeland.

Family graveside service will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, September 13th, at Evergreen Cemetery.
