Laura R. Beem, age 67, of Smyrna, TN, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013. A native of Nashville, TN, she was born January 26, 1946, and was preceded in death by her mother, Laura Hearn Robinson; father figure and brother, William Robinson; two brothers, and three sisters. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00AM at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna. Dr. Robert Picirilli will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Beem is survived by her husband of 45 years, Edwin L. "Roy" Beem; son, Joshua Beem and his wife Melissa of New Castle, IN; daughter, Misti Jenkins and her husband Gene of Smyrna, TN; grandchildren, William and Edwin Jenkins of Smyrna, TN; three sisters, Bessie Gober and her husband Kenneth of White House, TN, Betty Warren of Donelson, TN; and Grace Martin and her husband Bob of Nashville, TN; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Beem was a member of Cofer's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and was a retired teacher with Metro Schools for 34 years. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Belmont University and her Master's Degree from Northern Colorado University. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Family will serve as pallbearers. Memorials can be made to the Cofer's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church or to the library of Whites Creek High School. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 4:00PM to 8:00PM and Thursday from 9:00AM to 11:00AM at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna. 459-3254
