Larry Gene
Wrather
June 11, 1944 – December 6, 2017
Larry Gene Wrather , age 73 of Murfreesboro, TN, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday December 6, 2017. Larry has been reunited with his parents, Walter and Blanche Lowe Wrather, his brothers, Fred and Ralph Wrather and sister, Nancy Duke. Larry was born June 11, 1944. He was number 10 of 12 children. Growing up on a farm, he had a lifelong love of working hard, caring for his horses, growing a garden, and sharing with family, friends, and neighbors.
Larry was a member of Powell's Chapel Baptist Church where he served as Deacon for 36 years, and taught the Men's Sunday School Class for many years. He loved studying God's Word and was faithful in Men's Bible Study Fellowship. His family was his greatest joy on earth and his greatest desire was for everyone he came in contact with to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Larry was retired from Samsonite, and then went to work for McVantage Packaging Lumber Company.
Larry leaves behind his wife of almost 53 years, Donna Harrell Wrather; three sons, Scott (Christina) Wrather, Chris (Sally) Wrather, and Lance Wrather; grandchildren, Wes (Sarah)Wrather, Blake, and Chanz Wrather, and Hollie (Addison) LaHayne, Sarah and Mary Beth Wrather; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Noah Wrather; brothers, Billy Wrather, Sam (Linda) Wrather, Warren (Carol) Wrather, David (Linda) Wrather, and Bruce (Gail) Wrather; sisters, Cora Ella Price, Dot Craighead, and Naomi Todd; 25 nieces and nephews plus their spouses and many great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Brothers Mike Smith, Frank Lipetri, and Todd Wermers officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with his sons and grandsons serving as active pallbearers.
