July 19, 1931 – January 17, 2018
Dr. Larry Veazey Lowe, age 86 of Murfreesboro, TN passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2018. He was a native of Warrenton, GA and the son of the late Fred Rogers and Bessie Veazey Lowe.
Funeral service will be Friday at 4:00 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Pastor John Shepherd will be officiating. Graveside service will be at a later date in the Douglas City Cemetery, in Douglas, GA.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha Hope Woodruff Lowe; Daughter, Lauren Lowe Whitmire of Dawsonville, GA; Sons, William "Bill" Woodruff Lowe and his wife Lisa of Murfreesboro, TN, John Robert "Jack" Lowe of Murfreesboro, TN; Grandchildren, Katherine Sabatier and her husband Charley of Oxford, MS, Sarah Webb and her husband Ryan of Dawsonville, GA, Elizabeth Sulpy and her husband David of Nashville, TN, Mackenzie Lowe, Meridith Lowe, Sarah Margaret Lowe, all of Murfreesboro, TN; and Great Grandchildren, Keith Sabatier, Ruby Sabatier and Ella Webb.
Dr. Lowe was a member of First Baptist Church in Murfreesboro. He received his Undergraduate Degree from Mercer University, his Master's Degree from the University of Georgia, and his PhD from Michigan State University. Dr. Lowe was a Speech Professor at MTSU and was the Department Head of the Speech and Theatre Department for several years. He was distinguished with the honor of Professor Emeritus. Prior to his career as a Professor he served as a Lieutenant Junior Grade in the United States Navy.
He was an avid gardener and enjoyed working in his yard. His life revolved around his family and he will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
Visitation will be Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. 615-893-5151.
