Dr. Kitty McGuire Gamewell, age 95 died August 7, 2014. Dr. Gamewell was a native of Sylva, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late Dr. Wayne McGuire and Dr. Daisy Zachary McGuire. She was also preceded by her husband Dr. Robert Lee Gamewell, Jr. who died in 2006. Services will be 4:00pm Sunday at First United Methodist Church. Rev. Ann Benson will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 4:00pm Sunday at First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Dr. Gamewell is survived by a daughter Aleta Gamewell Tuma and a son Robert Lee Gamewell, III both of Murfreesboro; one sister Dr. Patsy McGuire and her husband Dr. Harold McGuire of Sylva, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Dr. Bob Tuma, Jr. and his wife Claire of Murfreesboro, David C. Tuma and his wife Mary of Murfreesboro and Emily Tuma of Nashville; two great-grandchildren Caroline and Anna Claire Tuma. Dr. Gamewell was a beloved children's dentist in Murfreesboro for over 50 years. She was educated at Mars Hill College and received her dental degree at Emory University in Atlanta, where she met and married her fellow classmate Dr. Robert Lee Gamewell, Jr. Dr. Gamewell was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Col. Hardy Murphee chapter of the D.A.R. and the Murfreesboro Dental Assoc. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in memory of Dr. Gamewell.
