Kenneth Oliver, Sr. age 81 of Murfreesboro died Saturday March 14, 2015. He was a native of Smith County and was the son of the late, C.J. and Betty Smith Oliver. He was also preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Oliver, Jr., brother, Vestal Oliver; two sisters, Eliza Gregory and Dorothy Carver. Mr. Oliver was a member of Franklin Road Baptist Church and was involved with the Prison Ministry and Laotian Ministry for over 25 years. He was a graduate of Temple University in Chattanooga. During his time and studies at Temple University he was the school barber. Mr. Oliver is survived by his wife of 61years, Dot Clariday Oliver ; son, Paul and wife Molly Taylor Oliver of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Joshua Oliver and wife Ashlie, Matt Oliver and wife Amy, Jaylee Oliver, and Eli Oliver all of Murfreesboro, Kristi Grubbs and husband Russ of Wartrace;great- grandchildren, Averie Oliver, Addie Grace Oliver, Olivia Jane Grubbs, Chandler Oliver; sister, Velma Shrum of Lafayette. Funeral service will be 2:00PM Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Dr. Mike Norris, David Rich and Clayton Jones will officiate. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
