Odom
July 8, 1937 – April 2, 2018
Kenneth C. Odom, age 80, of Smyrna, TN, went to be with the Lord peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Monday, April 2, 2018. He was a native of Rutherford County and was preceded in death by his parents, Guy Leburn and Gladys Lora Robinson Odom; sisters, Irene Odom Keys, Janelle Odom Reeder, and Loyce Odom Adkerson; and brothers, Eugene Odom and Neal Odom.
He was a member of Lifepoint (formerly 1st Baptist Church of Smyrna). Mr. Odom was proud veteran having served in the United States Navy where he was an electrician on a destroyer. He was a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University. Mr. Odom loved to fly and was a pilot for many years with several different companies. He enjoyed square and round dancing, all types of music – especially jazz, watching sports and especially helping other people.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Highers Duggin Odom; son, David A. Duggin ; brothers, Leonard Odom and his wife Margaret and Wayne Odom; sisters, Cornelia Stewart and Juanice Winchester and her husband Jim; along with many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at LifePoint Church in Smyrna. Dr. Benny Woods will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors.
Memorial donations may be made to Prospect, INC. (Group Home for Special Needs Children) at 960 Maddox Simpson Pkwy in Lebanon, TN 37090 or to The Down Syndrome Association of Middle Tennessee at (somethingextra.org).
The family would like to give a special thank you to the friends, neighbors, the church family, Mrs. Ruth's Sunday School Class and to Caris Healthcare for the special love, attention, thoughts and prayers shown during Kenneth's two year battle with Cancer.
