? ? ? Kenneth Micona, age 87, of Murfreesboro, passed away April 11, 2016. He was a native of Chicago, Illinois and son of the late Anton and Dorothy Gallois Micona. Funeral services will be Friday at 1:00 PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dr. John A. Hinkle, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 AM until service time at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.
Mr. Micona is survived by his wife of 63 years, Florence Micona; daughters, Carol Lynn Kitchens of Hammond, IN, and Cynthia M. Smith (William) of Advance, NC; grandchildren, John Kitchens (Tanda), and Lora Smith and Fiance' Jon Merdek; great grandson, Kyle Kitchens; and sister, Rita Vezina of Bridgeview, IL. He was preceded in death by son-in-law David Kitchens; granddaughter, Jennifer Kitchens; and sisters, Anabelle Haaksma and Eloise Stracinsky.
Mr. Micona was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and an electrical engineer having retired from Commonwealth Edison in Illinois after 43 years of service. He attended First Presbyterian Church of Murfreesboro and was also a ruling elder and member of the Presbytery at the United Presbyterian Church of South Holland, IL. He was a member of The American Legion, Loyal Order of the Moose, and was an avid traveler.
