Kendall Brian Murphy

Kendall Brian Murphy, a loving father and firefighter, age, 37 of Murfreesboro, committed suicide on Sunday, September 13, 2026, after a long struggle with depression and mental health challenges. His life was filled with love, and he was deeply loved by those around him. Throughout his life, Brian dedicated himself to helping others as a firefighter, even though he fought his own battles behind the scenes. We will cherish and honor his memory forever, especially for his son Brooks.

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, Brian was proud to serve with the Metro Davidson Nashville Fire Department. He loved his son Brooks more than anything in the world. Besides his work, he enjoyed working on trucks, racing, and spending quality time with his friends. Brian had an incredible sense of humor and a contagious smile. Everyone who knew him has a story of a time when his laughter made their day. He was always trying to spread joy, even when he was struggling inside.

He is survived by his wife, Leslie Murphy; his son, Kendall Brooks Murphy; his mother, Kimberly Stiles; his brother, Blake Murphy; his Pawpaw, Paul Cornwell; grandmother, Sharon Lawson; extended family, friends, and so many who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his beloved Nanny, Carolyn Cornwell.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 20th, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. The celebration of life service will follow at 7:00 PM at the same location. For more information, visit www.woodfinchapel.com.
