Kathy Baxter Grimes, age 80 of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2026, at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital after two years of various disabling health issues. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and attended North Boulevard Church of Christ in Murfreesboro.

She was born December 12, 1945, in Lewisburg, Tennessee to the late Stanley Baxter and Ellis Richardson Baxter.

Upon graduation from MTSU she began her teaching career. She taught for 29 years and retired in 2010 from Riverdale High School in Murfreesboro. She was truly a Warrior.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter in law, Sirvi Grimes, her sisters and their spouses, Hilda (Bobby) Lasater and Betty (Leslie) Stubblefield.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ronnie Grimes; two sons, Stanley (Jennifer) Grimes and Rob Grimes. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Will Grimes, Lucas Grimes, Ella Grimes, and Cara Grimes.

Visitation with the Grimes family will be at Woodfin Memorial Chapel on Thursday, February 12, 2026 from 1:00 pm until the time of memorial services beginning at 4:00 pm with Joe Roberts officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Kathy may be made to the North Boulevard Meals on Wheels or the charity of your choice.
