Obituary

KATHERINE JEAN COLEMAN, age 83, passed away Thursday, December 16, 2010. She was born on May 15, 1927 in Shelbyville, TN but lived since early childhood in Murfreesboro. She was preceded in death by her parents Walter P. Coleman, Sr and Jewel Brittain Coleman and her brother, Walter P. Buddy Coleman, Jr. Memorial service will be 2:00pm Thursday, December 30, 2010. She is survived by her nieces, Martha (Billy) Coleman Bowman and Amy (Andy) Coleman Smith; nephew, W. Page (Andrea) Coleman, III; sister-in-law, Nancy Coleman all of Murfreesboro; one great niece; five great nephews and numerous dear friends. Jean graduated from Central High School in 1945, Middle Tennessee Teachers College, and received a Masters Degree from UT-Knoxville. She taught school in Atlanta, GA and went on to become the Director of Art Education for the Davidson County School System. Jean thoroughly enjoyed playing golf and was part of the faithful ladies foursome every Saturday at Stones River Country Club for many years. She was also a avid bridge player belonging to several bridge clubs throughout the years enjoying them all. She treasured her family and was a devoted friend to many. After retirement, Jean enjoyed traveling with friends, taking on projects in decorating her home and entertaining friends and family. She was a true friend to so many and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to First Baptist Church and the Linebaugh Library.
