Obituary

James Wayne "J.W." Hampton, Sr. age 72 of Hohenwald, died Saturday at Alive Hospice, Murfreesboro. He was a native of Bemis, Tennessee and a son of the late Barber Wayne Hampton and Helen Geneva Jackson Davenport. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Alexandra Pearl Tregwynt Harries.

Survivors include sons, Page Hampton of Murfreesboro, James "Jay" Hampton, Jr. and wife Gabs, and Jason Hampton and wife Emma, all of England, Jon "Duke" Hampton of Memphis; brothers, Bobby Hampton and wife Lydia of Brentwood, Dennis Davenport and wife Tammy, and J.R. Davenport, all of Lebanon; Randy Hampton of Jackson, TN, Tom Hampton and wife Wendy of Nashville; a sister, Penny Hampton of Savannah, TN; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild; and a host of other loving family and friends.

Mr. Hampton was a United States Navy Veteran and he retired from State Farm as a claims specialist after 20 years of service.

Visitation with the family will be 4:00 p.m. until the time of a memorial service beginning at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro. An online guestbook is available for the Hampton family at www.woodfinchapel.com.
