Obituary

Judith Kathleen Johnson, age 98 passed away on June 18th. She was born March 1, 1917, in Williamsburg, Kentucky and was the daughter of the late Eli and Ella Foley. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Thurman Johnson. She is survived by her daughter, Judith James; son, Dennis and wife Nancy; grandson, William James; all of Murfreesboro; grandson, Matthew Johnson and wife Katie of East Troy, Wisconsin; granddaughter, Rachel Lawrence, DVM and husband Nathan of Vilseck, Germany and numerous nieces and nephews. Before she married and became a homemaker and mother, Kathleen attended Cumberland College in Williamsburg, Kentucky and taught in a one room schoolhouse. She worked at Oak Ridge, Tennessee during the development of the atomic bomb and served in the U. S. Marine Corps Women's Reserve, 7th Air Wing during WWII stationed at El Toro, California. After the war, she worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority in Florence, Alabama where she met her husband. She loved the Lord and was a member of Third Baptist Church since its establishment. Visitation with the family will be held Monday, July 6, 2015 at 12:00 noon at Woodfin Memorial Chapel in Murfreesboro with a funeral service at 2:00 pm with Brother Steve Hutson officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center in memory of Kathleen Johnson.
