Obituary

J.T. Jackson, age 93 of Murfreesboro, died Tuesday at the Tennessee State Veterans Home. A native of Chattanooga, he was a son of the late Elbert Jackson, Sr. and Bertha Mae Vanetta Jackson. He was also preceded in death by his wife and the mother of his children, Betty Jackson; his second wife, Jessie Jackson, and a brother, Joe B. Jackson.

Survivors include his children, Ron Jackson and wife Peggy of Murfreesboro, David Jackson and wife Sheryl of Nolensville, and Cindy McCormick of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Christopher Jackson and wife Ann, and Brett Jackson and wife Samantha all of Murfreesboro, Danielle Dutton and husband Andy of Town Creek, Alabama, Sarah Elyse Jackson of Nolensville, Olivia Jackson of Knoxville, Madeline Jackson of Nolensville, Calvin McCormick and wife Angie of Clarksville, and Blake White and Casey of Lynchburg; great grandchildren, Bradley, Bethany, Mia Kate, Alli Grace, Susan, and Braylin; brothers, Elbert Jackson, Jr. and wife Beverly, Ernest Jackson and wife Margie, and a sister, Betty Ruth Buffington, all of Chattanooga.

Mr. Jackson was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church and a United States Navy veteran serving in the Pacific during WWII. He, along with his brother Joe, co-owned and operated the Home Roofing and Building Company in Murfreesboro for many years.

Visitation will be Wednesday night from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Woodfin memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday at St. Marks United Methodist Church with Dr. Jim Clardy officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
