Joyce Sanders

Mrs. Joyce Elaine Diehl Sanders, age 84, of Murfreesboro, TN passed away Friday, July 17, 2026. She was born in Chambersburg, PA to the late Paul R. and Esther Helmuth Diehl. Following in her mother's footsteps, she spent many of her younger years as a cosmetologist. However, Joyce truly embraced being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a true passion and talent for gardening. Joyce and her husband were avid MTSU fans and enjoyed traveling together to new places throughout the world. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Sanders is survived by her daughters, Desiree Netherland and Varity Stone (David); grandchildren, Daniel Netherland (Linda), Cameron Stone (Spenser), and Ashton Stone (Holly Lapka); sister, Delana Yates; caregivers, Carolyn Harris and Christy Faulk; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James Sanders, and her brother, Jack Diehl.

The family would like to thank the caregivers and Adams Place Memory Care for their loving care of Mrs. Sanders.

Graveside services will be held Monday, July 27, 2026 at 1:00pm at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.
