JOYCE COLE MELTON, age 67, of Smyrna, Tennessee passed away peacefully in her home, Friday evening December 19, 2008. She was born on October 20, 1941 in Asheville, NC and was the daughter of the late Chester Arlington Cole and the late Jimmie Mae Hall Cole. Joyce is survived by her son, Kevin Autrey Harper and his wife, Tracy of Smyrna; daughter, Deanna Harper Sims and her husband, Kent of Hendersonville; two brothers, James Cromwell Cole and his wife Nancy of Leicester, NC and Jerry Hall Cole and his wife, Joann of Asheville NC; three grandchildren, Cole Harper, Griffin Harper and Lucy Sims and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Smyrna. Joyce was raised in the Newfound Community of Leicester, NC and graduated from Leicester High School in 1960. She lived in the Asheville area until 1977 when she moved to Nashville, Tn. She has resided in Smyrna for the last 29 years. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Smyrna and was employed as an executive Secretary for Square D Company for the last 28 years. She was a woman of strong Faith and principal. She was fun loving and adventurous and loved to travel. She loved the Titans but mostly she enjoyed time with her family and her many friends. Visitation with the family will be 4-7 pm Monday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna.
