Obituary

Josephine Knight was born on December 8, 1939 in Blytheville, AR to Edward Odell Hattiex and Mozella Fuller (Mama Duke). She met the love of her life Charles Edward Knight "whom preceded her in death" and in 1962 the two joined in holy matrimony and were blessed with eight children. Also preceded her in death are her parents, Odell Hattiex and Mozella Fuller; her step-father, Alford Blackburn; her grandparents, Birdie and Robert Fuller; two daughters, Rolanda Knight and Dushon Knight; a son, Charles Knight, Jr.; two granddaughters, Takina Douglas and Kendall Knight; a sister, Rosetta Agee;a step-brother, Bernard Hightower; and an aunt, Robbie Marshall.

Josephine "Jo" accepted Christ at a young age (11) at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Arkansas. She graduated from Luxora High School in 1959 and loved sitting outside enjoying the fresh air while taking care of her flowers and vegetable plants. She loved taking care of her family and home. Josephine had numerous jobs including the Pontiac Silverdome and NL Industries where she was "Momma" to the entire staff. She also volunteered at Lakeside Homes for the children's free food programs for many years. She had a bright spirit, warm heart, and was loved by all!

On March 10, 2021, she departed this walk of life at home in Springfield, TN. She leaved to cherish her memories four sons, Rodney Knight of LaVergne, TN, Michael and Tanisha Knight of Springfield, TN, Roland and Jackie Knight of Pontiac, MI, and Anthony and Linda Knight of Westfield, IN; one daughter, Kemyetta Knight and Walter Woodruff of Smyrna, TN; one daughter-in-law, Joann Knight of Jonesboro, AR; two sisters, Alfreda Anderson and Barry of Gosnell, AR and Earline Robinson of Kennett, MO; four step-sisters, Alma Malone and Melvin of Gobler, MO, Teresa Smith and Janice Hightower both of Charlotte, NC, and Kathy Sheard of Jonesboro, AR; one sister-in-law, Mildred Barksdale of Chicago, IL; special niece/daughter, Birdie Stewart and Bobby of Gobler, MO; special cousin/sister, Mattie Grayson of Chicago, IL; two special friends, Earnestine Stewart of Kansas City, MO and Julia "Ms. Pat" Field; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved her dearly.

Due to recent health concerns, the family requires masks to be worn at all times.

Visitation with the family will be Saturday, March 20, 2021 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 1:00pm at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery.
