Obituary

Joseph Raymond Riso, a native of New Orleans, and the son of the late Dominick and Virginia (Bagala) Riso, as well as a loving husband for 62 years to Virginia Caroline Fogarty, died peacefully on Sunday, July 5, 2015 in Murfreesboro, TN. Born in 1924, he attended Gulf Coast Military Academy in Gulfport, Mississippi and Tulane University before serving in the Army Air Corps during World War II. After the war, Mr. Riso founded the Memphis Hangar Company in Memphis, Tennessee and returned home to New Orleans in 1973 to the family businesses, Acme Paper Box and United Paper Company. He recently returned to Tennessee to be near his daughter Gloria Beazley. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his loving children, Sheila Virginia Riso of Bay St. Louis, MS, Donna Jo Riso Leatherman of New York, NY, Joseph Raymond Riso, Jr. of Miami, FL, Raymond Edmund Riso (Mindy) of Lafayette, LA, and Gloria Lynn Riso Beazley (Bennett) of Murfreesboro, TN; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who will miss his love and joy of life. A private memorial service will be held in New Orleans with his final resting place at St. Louis Cemetery III in New Orleans.
